2025 was a year of growth, discovery, and celebration for Melanin MVP. We showed up for women's sports in new ways, amplified voices that deserve to be heard, and built a community that's as passionate about the game as we are. From courtside to trailside, we covered the moments that mattered—and the ones that didn't make headlines but should have. Today, I’m sharing our first video in a new series we’ll be premiering on YouTube, and looking ahead to what's coming next.

We’ll be tabling at some events. Right now, I’m primarily planning to be at runs and rides in the Southeast. Let me know if your watch party, recreational club, or semi-pro league wants us to capture the everyday athletes and women’s sports fans in your community!

We’ll be covering more women’s sports events. Today, I’m attending my first LOVB Atlanta game, and looking to add AUSL, women’s flag football, and college sports coverage to our lineup of professional sports.

We’ll be featuring more stories here and on the podcast. Last year, we shared 13 podcast episodes featuring outdoor organizations and women athletes. We’re hoping to do more this year. If you or someone you know would like to be featured on the show or here in the newsletter, respond to this email and let’s get connected!

We’ll be sharing more watch party events and outdoor organizations you should know about. We built a database of watch parties and outdoor organizations that are friendly to women of color athletes and women sports fans of all levels. We even got to talk with the creators of the Stoop Pigeon (previously Watch Party PHL) about the community they’re building in Philadelphia and the women’s sports bar they’re opening later this year. They’re hosting a ton of events while Unrivaled is in town for a few games, so be sure to follow along on social media to find the latest updates!

We’ll be reading some books written by women athletes for March Madness. I’ll be sharing the books on the podcast feed, so be sure to subscribe, read along, and suggest books for our reading list!

And now, what you’ve all been waiting for….

As the North Carolina Courage fought for their playoff lives against the New York Gotham, over 11,000 fans stood in the rain cheering them on. Their last game of the season became the largest women’s sports game attendance in North Carolina! 🤯 I put the hot mic on a few fans in the crowd to hear their real-time reactions during the game.
