Women to Watch 🏅

• Mexico had more women than men representing their country in the Olympics for the first time ever. 63 of the 109 athletes that competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics were women.

• Jordan Chiles shares her words of affirmation, which I’m sure are much needed as her bronze medal is still being contested.

• Shamier Little competed in the women’s and mixed 4x400m races and helped both teams achieve a collective world record, silver medal, and gold medal.

• USA WBB wins their 8th straight gold medal in a close win against France. As Dawn Staley said, we had A’ja Wilson and they didn’t.

• USA Volleyball took home the silver medal after a hard-fought run.

• Gabby Williams, a dual American and French citizen, took home the Best Defensive Player award for women’s basketball and led the final charge for the silver medal for France.

• Nigerian women’s basketball coach Rena Wakama was named best coach of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

• 17-year-old swimmer Zuri Ferguson made her Olympic debut placing 3rd in her heat and 27th overall.

• When she wasn’t on the court, A’ja could be found with Snoop Dogg chilling courtside.

• In exchange for $9M, Snoop Dogg was the ultimate sports fan. He displayed different women on his shirt each day, one of which featured A’ja Wilson.

• Alexis Ohanian has been unabashedly promoting Athlos, a new track and field event with the largest purse for winning athletes, that will take place next month. He announced an additional $60K for any competitors who medaled at the Olympics and that Megan Thee Stallion will be the headlining musical act.

65% of Team USA’s medals were earned by women. 20% were earned by Black women. I can’t wait to see what the continued medal count will look like at the Paralympics!
