The WNBA Playoffs are about to send me into cardiac arrest. I’m already eating my words on who I thought would win it all, so now, I’m just hoping my second-ranked team will make it through Round 1. Phoenix Mercury, you have one job tonight! The North Carolina Courage are also in dire straits heading into the end of the season. Please pray for my sanity. I hope you enjoy these articles as much as I did. Let me know when you read the last word! 🥂

From CT Insider. How ex-UConn women's basketball star Morgan Tuck managed 'challenging' first year as CT Sun's GM.

There were a lot of coaching changes in the WNBA offseason; Connecticut had one of the newest lineups of coaching staffs. WNBA staff, marketing team, and front offices get the least amount of press, so I was happy to see this feature on Morgan Tuck. She should be proud of the young core she’s built, and the atmosphere she’s created that has prompted Tina Charles to want to stay and mentor them.

From ESPN. Life on the WNBA fringe: Suitcases, sacrifice, soul-searching.

The official maximum number of players in the WNBA 2025 season is 156. But that number doesn’t account for trades, waivers, training camp contracts, hardship contracts, or rest-of-season contracts. The real number of players who have suffered from injury, been cut without notice, or bounced around between teams is probably closer to heartbreak than heartwarming. Really glad these stories are now garnering mainstream attention ahead of the upcoming 2-team expansion draft.

From No Cap Space. The Sky Has Fallen

The internet is rarely aligned on anything, especially WNBA Threads, but one thing we all agreed on was that the response by the Chicago Sky to Angel Reese’s statements about her expectations was egregious. She is their franchise player, and a Sky PR staff member was present for the interview. This is seemingly in line with many years of Sky's front office mismanagement. I hope that the locker room has a healthy environment in the next season.

From ESPN. Senator warns WNBA to stay out of Sun sale negotiations

I’m happy to see Connecticut and so many other lawmakers defending the Connecticut Sun and the pay equity of the players. It’s sad that elected officials have to make their voices known in these matters, but I’m happy they’re stepping up to the plate despite many other things pulling at their attention.

From The 19th. Women’s tackle football is on the rise

Flag football is coming the 2028 Olympics, and I’m happy to see women’s tackle football getting its due. I’ve been learning so much about women footballers, and hope to have one on the podcast soon!

From For the Win by USA Today. Aces' Cheyenne Parker-Tyus opens up about balancing 2 kids and the WNBA

I personally wish Cheyenne Parker-Tyus would’ve waited to return until the playoffs, as the Aces had already secured their spot and home court advantage. But I’m equally glad she and the team were able to honor her body and her wishes. She’s been highly efficient in her return, and giving the team some much-needed post-depth.

From The Players Tribune. Courtney Williams is a Problem

I’ve written about Courtney Williams as a member of the Studbudz, and she is continuing to use her voice and share her experience in a raw and unfiltered way. From Vogue to the Players Tribune, she’s been a huge part in raising the profile of other masc women basketball players that have been so prevalent in the league since its inception.

From SB Nation. A WNBA star is being born in front of our eyes

Dominique Malonga. The 19-year-old rookie from France who made her mark in all of our hearts this season. I’m glad she’s getting her flowers, because I know we’ll see so much more from her.

The Last Word 🥂

The WNBA and NWSL seasons may be coming to a close, but college women’s sports are kicking into high gear with LOVB, Athletes Unlimited, and Unrivaled around the corner. The cooler and less humid weather is also ushering in more running events this fall. How are you getting outside or in the stands?
